De-stressing With A Hammock
The many shades of coastal waters from blue to aqua have been woven into one of my favorite relaxation pieces, a quilted hammock
. If I plug in my Ipod and turn on my ocean waves music, I can almost feel the sand between my toes.
I hear the ocean waves and know that cool waters await me. I hear seagulls calling above. It is amazing what a hammock, an Ipod, and a little imagination can do for my stress level!
Butterflies are beautiful as they are floating around. When they land on a flower, you see so many colors. The same is so of the Algoma Butterfly Chair
. It comes in seven colors and has the shape of a butterfly’s wings. The choice of leg colors are black or white.
It is a very handy little chair to fold up and take along camping, on a picnic, or to a sports event, better than those hard bleachers! It could be your teenager’s favorite chair to hang out in or your college child’s portable dorm room chair. This chair is sturdy, with a weight capacity of 250 lbs, yet light as a butterfly.
Did you know that relaxation is healthy for you? It is actually healthy to take some time out of your busy day to just clear your mind, breathe deeply, and rest.
A great way to do this is by swinging your stress away in a hammock swing
. Just make this special time a priority in your day each day. Soon you will notice you are feeling happier and healthier.
Hatteras Hammocks began in 1971 along the Carolina coast, when a tobacco buyer, Walter Perkins, bought his mother a rope hammock for a gift. He also bought one for himself so he could take it apart to figure out how it was made. Then he began selling an improved hammock from his trunk on business trips.
By the mid 1980′s, Hatteras Hammocks had blossomed into one of the world’s top hammock producers. They also expanded their line to inculde hammock chairs, hammock stands, and hammock accessories. Today, the company is still known for its state of the art manufacturing and tradition of innovation. Perhaps the biggest reason may be that they are still asking the same question Perkins did: How we can make it better still?
My idea of the perfect backyard is a feeling of stepping into another little world when I walk out my back door. There is a beautiful patio with chairs and tables with umbrellas. Don’t forget the grill for a barbecue and the chimineas to light after dark. Lots of pretty flowers in pots are all over the place!
The whole way around the patio is a colorful and fragrant flower and herb garden, and beyond this, the yard, with a few huge maple trees for shade. But my favorite spots are the cool hammocks in the trees and the one in a stand in the yard. This is the perfect place for a “stay cation”.
The dog days of summer are here for sure. It has been a very hot summer here in Pennsylvania. The only thing I feel like doing is laying in my hammock in the shade.
It would be nice to have a pool to dip into between naps and reading. Luckily, I have my hammock mister that attaches to my hose to keep myself cool. It is one of my favorite hammock accessories, along with my caddy, that attaches to my hammock to hold my book and Ipod.
I love lounging around in hammocks, but I’m always a little afraid of falling asleep and ending up on the ground. This has never actually happened to me, so the fear is somewhat irrational, but it’s there nonetheless. Up until now I’ve been reluctant to by a hammock because of this, but one of my friends recently turned me on to hammock chairs.
They’re just as comfortable as a standard hammock but allow you to sit upright, adding a sense of stability and security. The upright position is also great for reading, writing and using your laptop while you’re lounging in the backyard. You can choose from several styles depending on the spatial restrictions in your yard and personal preferences.
The Original Pawleys Island Hammock was created in 1889 in a quiet summer resort along the South Carolina low country coast. Joshua Ward was a river boat captain when he wove a knot-less bed in search of a cool night’s rest.
Today’s innovations and weather resistant materials are being used for certain models. However, The Original Pawleys Island Rope Hammock is crafted in the style with the same natural materials that were available to Captain Josh.
Family togetherness is the heart of the home. Spending quality time together as a family can be challenging in our fast-paced, hectic world. But the special time we make to spend together is an investment in our happiness and our future. It will shape the lives of our children to be happy people.
Family time does not have to cost a thing, such as going somewhere. It is just the time we share enjoying each other’s company. My family enjoys the hours we spend swaying in our chairs in our Green Eggs & Hammocks Palapa Relaxation Station, eating, playing cards, talking, or just “hanging out.”

A few summers ago, while vacationing in Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod, I discovered a
little hammock shop. We brought two hammock chairs home and hung them from the trees in our backyard. I spent so much time relaxing in these, happy we had two so I didn’t have to share. Although my youngest boy, that summer, enjoyed sitting in mine with me, because it was extra large, and I would read to him. I especially loved the evenings when it would cool off and I watched the deer come out in the fields. Many an hour I spent in my favorite spot reading, resting, and even working on my laptop.
When I became an internet marketer, I decided I wanted to have an online hammock web store, largely due to the peace and comfort these chairs gave me. Now after a couple of years, I feel I have come full circle to realize that the new product line I just added turned out to be the maker of my first beloved hammock chair!
