The arc hammock stand is a large, regal piece. It is perfect for a large backyard, adorned with a beautiful hammock.

It can be a focal point in your yard. You could even use this area to plant a small, ornamental tree beside it. You can watch the tree grow over the years, and someday, it will provide you nice, cool shade!

Tailgating

Football season is less than a month away! Tailgating in the parking lot before the big game can be just as much fun as the game itself! There are some elaborate “camps” that people set up, with generators and all kinds of food!

The Green Eggs and Hammocks tailgating trailer hitch stand hooks onto your trailer hitch and holds two hammock chairs. It is just a lot of fun. Seeing people’s reaction to this unique stand is half the fun!

Healthy Lifestyle Part 8

When we think of being healthier, most of us think of eating better foods and exercising, but one part of being healthy that is quite simple, yet we many of us don’t do, is getting the proper amount of rest daily. I am guilty of this. I get so involved in things I am doing, work and play, and, before I realize it, it is late!

I am going to start practicing what I am preaching here and be more aware of the time in the evening so that I start winding down earlier. Rest is so important to our bodies and all organs and our brains function better with enough sleep. You know how much you need, as we are all different in the requirements of sleep. Set up a hammock or hammock chair in your home to spend some “winding down” time in, prior to bedtime. Personally, I have a hammock chair stand in the corner of my bedroom! Start loving your body! Give it plenty of rest. It will thank you with better health!

Olive Shells

Olive shells, called the lettered olive shell, is the South Carolina official state shell. It was discovered and named, in 1984, by an early pioneer in conchology, Dr Edmund Ravenel, of Charleston, South Carolina. These shells are prolific along the South Carolina coast.

These are what I found on my walk this morning! They are my favorite seashells! I have been collecting them for 14 years! I have a room in my home that I call my “beachy” room, because, if I’m not at my beach house, I want to still feel like I am at the beach! I have my hammock chair in a hammock chair stand in the corner of this room with a bookcase within reach, filled with books and jars of seashells. One jar is filled only with all olive shells, to remind me of happy memories beach combing on the Carolina shores.

Staycation Part 8

As you can tell, I am very excited about staycationing, as I am on one myself right now! I have discovered new things to do this summer that I wished I would have done before with the kids. We have had some great vacations, but I could have saved a lot of money and also had much enjoyment. So, as we have explored many things to do right at home, I hope you are not working on your staycation!

Something fun that we did just yesterday was to go to a zoo! It had been several years since we were there. Chances are, there is probably a zoo within a reasonable drive from your home. We enjoyed watching the animals and the shows. My boys always have liked the monkey house–they are so interesting to watch! Another hit is the reptile house! I like the big cats and the giraffes the best. When we got back home, I needed a rest after all the walking! As I laid in my arc hammock stand, it reminded me of Noah’s Ark, and I imaged all those tons of animals, large and small, fitting into that great ark! I rocked my self to sleep like I was in my own ark!

Green Eggs and Hammocks was founded by Ben Lee in Lubbock, Texas in 1997. They developed their own unique products and had them patented. One very cool item is the trailer hitch stand. This is perfect for so many outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, hunting, and possibly the most favorite, tailgating!

Another item that is so unique is the Palapa Relaxation Station, a modern alternative to the stand table and umbrella set, this piece actually holds six hammock chairs! Over the years people have come to know the catchy name as the maker of  unique, high quality products.

I love the summer evenings. Even if the daytime is hot and steamy, the nights are often so comfortable and pretty. I assume I enjoy it more this time of year because I can stay outside longer. I enjoy the sun setting, and then dusk, as the fireflies come out to make a million little lights.

I have a beautiful view from my hammock chair as I swing lightly from my hammock chair stand. Soon the nighttime chorus will start! The tree frogs across the fields, the crickets, and soon the katydids will start their music! Once the locust come, it is quite a loud concert! All the beautiful sounds you never need a CD or an iPod to hear.  Try to notice and stop to enjoy these moments that are special (and free).

So, your Dad is a pretty special man to you. He helped you learn to ride a bike and took you hiking. He is getting older but never seems to slow down! You are glad that he is still so active, but sometimes you wish he would just relax! You’ve decided on a special masculine looking hammock for him but you are worried that his trees are too far apart in his yard. Oh, no!

A hammock stand will solve that problem quickly! You have so many choices of colors and materials. Would he like a metal stand in black, taupe, or green? Or possibly, he would appreciate a wooden stand. Whatever you choose, your Dad will love it because he is always so easy-going and is used to always letting his family choose first, then he is happy with what is left. He will love his gift of relaxation!

Butterfly Bush

Today, I bought my first butterfly bush! I have admired them for years but just didn’t have one in my garden.Mine is a deep purple color. It is a shrub type of plant that resembles a miniature lilac, comes in many beautiful colors, smells heavenly, and, best of all, it attracts butterflies! It is easy to grow and is quick growing.

I placed mine near the edge of my patio and plan to let it grow large for extra privacy. It is only a few feet away from my hammock chair stand, where I spend time relaxing, reading, and sipping a refreshing drink after working in the garden while hanging in my hammock chair. I am looking forward to a new activity–watching butterflies!

Time To Garden

Now that Mother’s Day is passed, it is supposed to be safe to plant outside. For the annuals and tender perennials, it is always safer to wait and the danger of frost is supposed to be over by now. Some of the later tulips are still in full bloom but it is okay to plant some annuals around them. This way they can get an early start for a long summer of constant color.

The  arc hammock stand can be a regal piece of furniture amongst the flowers in the yard. This is what some people refer to as a garden hammock. How enjoyable to take a little break after planting flowers to admire the beauty you added to your home!
