Spring Fever

There is less than one month until spring! I am getting quite a serious case of spring fever! I love the longer days we are having. It is still not quite dark by 6pm. Today was a sunny, but breezy day. The temperatures were warm, in the 50′s, and I actually saw a forsythia blooming, a bit early, however! I actually noticed the bulbs are poking through the ground. This is probably because we have had a fairly mild winter. I hope it doesn’t come now.

This makes me very excited to get out in the gardens and start clearing away the old, woody stems of last year’s perennials to make room for the new shoots. I love getting the hammock out in the yard and on the patio too! I do need to refrain for now, because we could still have some snow. So for now, I will just enjoy dreaming of spring!

Fausnaught Day

Today was Fausnaught Day, also known as Fat Tuesday. This day is the last hurrah before the solemnity of Lent. I have never eaten so many donuts before! I started my day by driving to the gym while drinking coffee and eating a big sugar cookie from a local bakery. I am walking into the gym brushing off cookie crumbs! Very admirable! Yeah…

So, at least I exercised hard. Then around noon, as I walked into the grocery store, I realized it was Fat Tuesday! Well, why not? It’s just one day, right? So, I had more than my share of donuts this afternoon. I am so glad I normally eat healthy, because after all this, all I wanted to do was lay in one of my Pawleys Island hammocks and snooze!

Accessorize That Hammock!

Women like to accessorize themselves with jewelry, scarves, etc. You may not realize that the greatest part of having a hammock is adding fun hammock accessories! One of my favorites are the pillows. I like to add a few so that I can prop up when I want to read or write.

There are magazine holders, misters to spray you when it’s hot, and even a hammock rocker! You can put the stake in the ground near your hammock, then pull on rope to rock yourself to sleep!

Brazilian Hammock

If you have considered using a hammock indoors for the winter season, but are not sure what kind or size would work, you would do well to try a Brazilian hammock. They come in size single, which is smaller, all the way up to Gigante, which will hold a whole family!

They come in many colors, or natural, making it easier to blend with your decor, or as a nice accent piece. You can hang it from two hooks on the wall, or from a hook in the ceiling. Then you would hang both ends from the hook, making it double as a hammock chair!

Folding Hammock

Spring is coming next month and I just can’t wait! I am ready to take my folding hammock on a much needed camping trip! I have been blessed with a pretty mild winter where I live. So mild, in fact, that I have almost decided to go camping a few days that were in the 50′s!

But then, in the evening, the temperature might drop to the 20′s. For me, that’s a bit too cold yet. Although, I have camped during deer season, but, for some reason, it is easier then. At this time of year, I start getting spring fever to get outside more and enjoy nature more than I do in the winter.

Yes, I had a front row seat to the Grammy’s last night! Right in my own family room, swinging from my hanging hammock chair in the corner! I’m sure it would be amazing to actually be there, but I was quite satisfied from my comfortable spot, cuddled up, legs stretched out, just “hanging out”.

I am always amazed by the talent that is in this world. These people are truly blessed with gifts to share with the rest of the world. It was a cold, windy night here outside, and I couldn’t think of anywhere I would rather be than in my new KW hammock chair!

Trailer Hitch Stand

The Green Eggs and Hammocks trailer hitch stand is the perfect Valentine’s gift for the outdoors man in your life! He will love you forever if you get him the unique stand to hook onto the trailer hitch of his SUV or truck.

He can then place hammock chairs on the arms so that you could even join him on a picnic, by the lake, some warm afternoon this spring. You can sit and swing, while looking out over the beautiful water. It will be a perfect afternoon! There is even a canopy to keep you shaded or free from rain.

Have you been trying to think of something for your sweetheart, this Valentine’s Day, that you haven’t done before? The chocolates and flowers are always nice, but you wish you could really surprise her with the perfect gift! How about a beautiful hammock in a hammock stand? Perfect!

You could choose a pattern you know they will like, then a stand, to hang it in. This way you can move it anywhere you wish. From the backyard, to the patio, to the basement! The quality time you two will spend here is unmeasurable to any amount of money you spend! Oh, just make sure you get a “hammock built for two.”

Dreaming Of Spring

Today was a beautiful, sunny, winter day. It started out so frosted and cold that I thought it snowed! Then by noon, it was close to 50 degrees. That is my kind of winter’s day. I really don’t mind winter, it’s just that I like the warmer weather better because I do more outdoor activities then.

Days like today, I start dreaming about spring by the lake! I enjoy fishing, boating, and truthfully, am looking forward to hanging out laying in my new Outback Chair Company Urban Balance Wave! What a unique hammock that is! Just listening to birds and watching the sun glisten off the water are part of my dreams.

Superbowl Night!

I’m so excited for the Superbowl coming up here this evening! We have a small group of close friends coming early for a Superbowl party. This is when I put out all the Algoma Hammocks butterfly chairs and we all pile into the den.

Everyone gets their own chair. We have lots of snacks and my favorite sloppy joes in the crock pot. I love watching the excitement on the kids’ faces, who are just experiencing football. I love the game, but I also love the time spent together, and the great food!
